The Right Answer

A famous artist threw some paint on the canvas,
Some yellows and some blues,
He worked away with his paintbrush on the sidewalk,
As people lined up to see his work,
and waited in a queue.

They tried to guess what he was going to make,
Whose answer would take the cherry? And the cake?
One person said, “It’s a reprise of the starry night over a scenic lake”,
One person whispered, “It’s a tribute to Monet’s waterlilies, this is his take”.
And they all guessed some more about the artist’s muse,
and the painting he was about to make.

“I think it’s a cat”, a little girl cried out,
As the artist smiled and finished painting whiskers and a furry tail.
It seemed like the only person who understood his art,
Was the little girl with the curly pigtails.

There were many answers that day,
but only one right one,
And in a complex world,
A little girl with her curly pigtails,
and a cat with a furry tail had won.
