Oh hello there!

Thanks for stopping by. My name is Soudamini (Mini) Shankar and I write here under the pen name ‘Miss Mini’ here. It’s a doff of the hat to what kids called me, when I worked with them as a graduate speech and language clinician. Also, for a children’s writer, I think it has a nice ring to it. 🙂

Some of my characters are anthropomorphic, some larger than life and most of them metaphors that mirror everyday knowledge and reflect important themes. My stories are mostly speckled with relatable, real world scenes and settings and I try to build worlds with words that come off as amusing and fresh. Working with children has given me an intimate understanding of what tickles young minds.

I also have contributed to Ladderworks – a publishing platform that tells stories about inspiring social entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds and am a newly minted author of THE ROUNDO IN THE GROUNDO.
